1. Find a pebble or stone. Have a look at the shape and decide what design you would like to do on your pebble; it could be an animal, a rainbow, a landscape, a face, or patterns for example.

2. Try sketching different ideas on a piece of paper, then choose your favourite one. Use pens or paints to transfer your design onto the pebble.

If you wish to put your pebble outdoors, you will need to use waterproof pens, acrylic paints, or seal the design with varnish.

Why not make a collection of pebbles that can be displayed as a group.

Soap Carving

1. You will need a bar of soap which could be any shape.

2. Draw around the soap bar and sketch ideas for your soap carving design.

3. Use a pencil to draw your chosen design on the soap. Go over your design several times with a pencil. Use a teaspoon or the round end of a paper clip to carve larger areas of soap.

4. Add small details with a pencil, brush away any excess soap shavings and smooth any rough areas with your fingers.
